Robert Garratt secured a narrow victory over his Dad Mick which sees him climb up to 26th position on the Ladder. Match report courtesy of Robert:

Both of us potted very well in the first two frames. I can’t remember much about these, however I can remember potting a great red with pink over the bag and the colours on their spots playing a good shot on the yellow then massively over screwing the green which left a thin brown which I missed. Mick went 2-0 up.

I managed to win the next two fairly comfortably but to be fair it could have been 4-0 to either of us.

In the next frame we are level going into the final three colours where Mick played a safety shot a bit short and left me with all three shots in the open. I potted the blue and snookered myself on the pink behind the black. I could have played it nine times out of ten and not finished there. I tried to get out of the snooker and hit the black which meant my Dad needed pink to win to go 3-2 up.

The next frame my Dad missed a straight pink (which my 4 year old son would have got 😂) and I managed to pot pink and black to win and make it 3-3.

Mick came out the blocks really quick in the decider, going about 30 points ahead. I managed to pull back a little bit and with two reds left I had a long shot on the red which was basically all or nothing. I think it was one of the sweetest pots I’ve ever done and I managed to pot the black. I went for a safety on the red and managed to fluke a really lucky snooker which I managed to get about 28 points off. It now meant I needed yellow to go 26 ahead with 25 remaining. I pot frame ball and go in off. I was then put through the ringer but managed to sink blue and pink to win 4-3.

In the only other match played yesterday, Alan Caulton ran out a 4-1 winner against Mark Hayman. Alan played well, making a couple of 20s and a 32 break to gain a 3-1 lead. Alan then managed to win a tight fifth frame to secure the victory. Alan holds on to 32nd position with his third win in five matches.
