Adam Hussain beat Robert Garratt 2-0 to progress to the Last 16. Just one preliminary round match left to be played now, Dale Prime v Rich Pedley, scheduled for 1st November.

Notts Amateur Snooker Championship

The Notts Amateur Championship always seems to produce some fantastic matches and last night we had two absolute belters.

Defending champion Keith John Holgate was made to work really hard for his 3-2 victory by Gavin Shirley. Both players' safety game was first class but Gavin also made two awesome clearances to pinch two of the frames and take the match into a decider. Keith progresses to the Last 16 a relieved man.

In the other match it was Wayne Martin who was taken all the way by Danny John. Danny needed a snooker with Wayne leading the match 2-1. He got the snooker from which Wayne escaped, but he went in off, leaving Danny a free ball. Danny then pinched the frame and took the next with the help of a 38 break to lead the match 3-2. But Wayne then turned on the style, producing runs of 44 and 48 to take the next two frames and seal a 4-3 win. What a match!
