The AGM of the Nazareth House Snooker League will soon be upon us (15th September).  This is the time when players can propose rule and format changes.  Each club is allowed 2 votes at the AGM and all proposals will be voted on by those present.

If anyone has any suggestions for rule or format changes, please post them on this thread for discussion in advance of the meeting.

Hate to bring this one up again but hey smell the coffee. Indications for the new season once again point to a reduction in teams for the new season...perhaps losing upto 4 sides. If we carry on at this rate we're not going to have a Tuesday night league in a couple of years. I know the 4 man format was turned down last year, in fact a couple of the teams who voted against this motion actually folded as they couldn't get the numbers to form a 6 man team

I propose a move to 5 man teams (5 singles frames at the same venue).

Although we at Pegasus have plenty of players, the same can also be said at BCI and Oakleigh, I think this move would really help most of the other clubs. As matches would only be at one venue clubs like Oakleigh where there is only one table would be able to enter 2 sides as we could ensure that both teams would not be at home on the same night.

My other proposals for when this gets turned down and we carry on regardless are:

KO Cup and plate to revert to what it says on the tin ie; straight knockout. But using the divisional cup format. Best of 7 frames with each frame using players handicap. First team pulled out of hat is technically the home side and therefore gets to play the only pairs frame at their home venue.

The 3 miss rule being tried out in the top division. Most of us are now used to playing this in cup comps and singles league and it hasn't caused any problems so I don't see why we shouldn't be playing it in the league.

Cheers

Hello,

I don't know if I'm posting this on the right bit, If Steve could move it if I am.. But Me, Kwok and others was thinking it would be a great idea to do a singles league linked to the handicaps, So a league of all the -21 players in one league, -14 in another, -7 in another and so on, so you can see who's handicap needs changing each season if they win, or come runner up! I think another idea is to maybe get rid of a monday night league, preferbly nnia so its better because its in the winter and everybody plays over the winter.. And bring in a world cup format like what the pro's have just finished, 2 man teams I.e me and steve butler are a team and where playing Mike and Wayne, I played Mike and Wayne in a 1 frame match, Steve plays Mike and Wayne 1 frame each and we play a doubles frame! So its basiclly a best of 5, just a thought from me and quite a few people from Bci and think it would be a great ide!!! ;)

This thread is purely for the Nazareth House Snooker League ("NHSL").  I think your ideas are more appropriate for the NBSA singles and pairs competitions.  These have already been decided for the 2011/12 season.

If you have any proposals for the NHSL (Tuesday night team league - currently teams of 6-10 players) then post them here.

What do you mean get rid of the Monday night league? You'll have to fight me first.

All i'll say at the moment Snake is to look out for the announcement for the NBSA competitions. There might be something in it for you.

Five man teams sounds good, what about 5 singles and two pairs played at one venue. 7 points up for grabs each week.
To make it even more competitive you could include everybodies handicap mark, so it gives everybody a fighting chance each week.

To ensure all matches are played in one evening you could start at 7.30pm instead of 8pm.

Hi Nick - good to see you again the other night...looking forward to playing you again in singles league.

Re pairs frames - they tend to take a lot longer than singles frames and probably average at 30-40 minutes per frame so would probably struggle to fit 7 frames in.

The other option is 4 singles and 1 pairs frame which would allow teams to use between 4-6 players each night.

I already mentioned this format on another thread as its a struggle to find more than 4 players!!

Hi Mike, was a good presentation night, we really enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to the singles league, I hope it gets drawn up soon so we can see who is in which leaague etc.
I think your right 4-6 players, 4 singles and one pairs game would be good.
I hope we get a few more teams interested in the Nazareth house league this winter its a great season with all the competitions and singles leagues as well.

I have already announced that I will not be the Representative for Arnold CD this year and have informed Steve that under the current format I understand that Arnold will be only entering ONE team in the Naz House and that would preferably be in Div 2 because they do not feel that they will have a squad strong enough to compete at the higher level.

I, personally, think that the NNIA and the NAZ HOUSE Leagues should come under the NBSA, the NNIA playing on a Monday and the NAZ HOUSE on a Tueday.  Again, personally, sticking my neck out as I have for the past few seasons, think we (NAZ HO) should take up the NNIA format of a '4 man team', home and away alternate weeks, - ie 4 'frame' pts and 1 match point.

NNIA & NAZ HO would still run their own individual Championships and team K.O.s

There could also be a free to enter NBSA Team K.O. - all teams from both Leagues 'going in the hat'  The 1st team out of the hat would be the home team and depending if theirs is Monday or Tuesday it would we up to the away team if they were to contend they tie with a weaker team, but as a compensation they (as would all away teams) could be awarded the match point. So they could send just 2 players and win the tie.

I think 5 man teams with a doubles would cause considerable problems when it comes to Team K.O. comps.

Nick has mentioned 5 singles & 2 pairs with a 7.30 start !.  Just imagine - 1 table - 30 mins a frame - 11 o'clock finish - travel back to base - travel home - SEE YOU TOMORROW>

I agree with you Alan that the NNIA & NHSL should come under the banner of the NBSA. We have fabulous committee on the NBSA and as you say they would still be independently run leagues with their own chairman, secretary. results secretary, and treasurer.

I don't however agree that the NHSL should adopt the NNIA format as it makes the leagues too much of a muchness.

Maybe things will change when Steve resigns as league secretary, and i possibly take over the NHSL job.  It's a step in the right direction towards the NBSA taking over. Steve, hopefully, will be taking over as results secretary for both leagues.

If, and when, the NBSA take over there could be a NBSA cup competition along the lines you have set down. Maybe one of the other committee members could run it. Well volunteered Alan!!! It would have to be in conjunction with the NNIA and NHSL fixtures. Maybe a few weeks out of the leagues would be a good thing, as it would give teams another chance to win something, and give knocked out teams a time to play postponed matches.

Snake - Told you there would be something in it for you. See County cup! You just have to be patient.
