Proposals for change 2011/12 Season

Just couple of points Daniel.

1) Matches to start at 7:00. Some people work until 5:30. That gives them an hour and a half to get home, have a meal (They might even have to cook it themselves), get changed and sort themselves out and get to a venue. No time for a practice knock before the match. That's why the NNIA doesn't start till 7:30 and the NHSL doesn't start until 8:00.
2) No matches should finish later than 10:30. That's last frame over and done with. Some people have to be at work the following morning at 6:00. If a match isn't finished until after that then when are they going to get some sleep?
3) Good concept though. I tried to bring this in in the BDSL (Summer League) 2 years ago. Nobody wanted to know. Why? I want to play with my mates and if there's only 3 whats the other player going to do. I don't want to play in that team, with those players. There are a lot of arguments if you want to change a format.
4) If a team has 6 players then you are only going to play 1 frame each. What's the difference between that and the NNIA. If you had 5 players then only 1 of them is going to play 2 frames. I see arguments as to who plays the 2 frames.
5) There are too many if's and buts in this. A stable format is what's needed. Even a compromise one is better than not playing at all.

Mike L , in your example about frame times , just to let you know i once gave Nav a very good 3-0 pasting at pego which took about 16 mins. I think we average 5 min frames because Nav is a really fast referee.

Thanks for remembering me in your examples , it means so so much to me. After i beat nav he went for electric shock treatment accompanied with hunzla as below:

Cheers bash

I am really sorry about this Nav, but i have just fallen off my computer chair and my socks are in the air as i have been laughing my socks off. What is more funny is that i had an odd pair of socks on today together with an odd pair of underpants. i wear two underpants, one for the front and one for the rear. paddinton bear is on the front of todays and on the rear i have that teddy from comic relief.

Also, i noticed there have been a lot of recents posts about snooker. I hope this will not be continuing as i am more interest in people and how they lives their lives away from this game.

Alos well done to sherwood on winning the league and also well done to lee Crombie for enjoying his sunday and well done to mark lazoroski. If your not sure who he is then dont worry, i just made up the name but well done to him anyway.

i better go cause its all gonna get a little out of control if i continue all this nonsense.

Bash, i think you have been dreaming that you beat me 3-0 , but thats ok, everyone is entitled to have a good dream now and again. I am also shocked at the way Bash came dressed to sherwood club last night, i know that you have 2 jobs, but you cant simply come into the club like that (see below), im sure everyone will agree here

Nav, your one step ahead of me with the computer tricks, but I will personally be awarding you a trophy for that image. That is from the top draw. I am now laughing my pants off at myself.

Bash
Well done Nav

Having just seen the fixture list for the team I run here in the Shire I have absolutely no chance of setting up a team from the BCI, which funnily enough a few of us were willing to do....

That really should put some Nottingham players to shame....

We're changing the format anyway. I am firmly in the camp that believes there is absolutely no point whatever offering the same formate on two nights.  I would prefer to play in the Monday league and have the option of playing the 3 man 6 frames on Tuesday or vice versa.  Perhaps it would make sense if the league with the smaller number of players should change nights in a merged league playing 4 frames and the new format on another night?

The long and short of it is that I am requesting that we run a second division under the new format for those of us who would like to play it but have no chance of going for a big prize.  Is that too much to ask?  Even on a Wednesday?

OK, if you have to have 2 tables in the new format night than so be it.  I see your point about times and work.  If we want to play the format then we can easily find a place to play with 2 tables.   Teams with one table will just have to play in a merged league (assuming we vote to merge).   I'd certainly try to raise a team if the chance was there and I know there are players interested.

Mr Chair, please can we put that possibility up for discussion Thurs night?

Robert Wright

The merging of the 2 leagues is a non-starter. The NNIA teams don't want it. Some of the NHSL teams are against it too. It will happen one day when there are only 4 teams left in the whole of Nottingham, but until then!!!! Excluding teams because they only have 1 table will further diminish the teams playing.

Changing the format on a Tuesday is inevitable as teams cannot raise enough players to play in the format NHSL do now. As to what format it's up to the teams.

I haven't been reading anyone else's post's and I'm trying not to fall in this deep dangerous hole, But I'd still love to see the 2man team format introduced, 2v2. Me and my partner play one frame each against the other two and then a doubles frame at the end!

Robert Wright

You've not read the NBSA then. See county cup format.

This isn't about 2 man teams. This is about teams 3 or more players. 2 players don't make  team. They make a pair. (And you don't get anything for a pair, not in this game. Quote from Bruce Forsyth on play your cards right.)

Seriously?  I would have thought they were bored of the same team winning all the time. :D
