Player Grade Amendments & Anything for the Committee?

The Monday night league should really keep its 'identity' and play 1pt per frame plus a match point.
Bit I think it should really consider the 2 frame format - more players are likely to turn out for 2 frames as against 1 frame.
Surely the committee would NOT consider saying "Alright, one League, and play on either a Monday or Tuesday" - can you just imagine the fixture problems.
We need to stick to MONDAYAND TUESDAY Leagues.

Down to you Bob, and the Committee.

I think Harvey Pabla, Alan Cunningham and 'hit the nail on the head' Andy Carnell have solved the problems between them.
Monday snooker can keep its identity by playing 2 frames each and keeping four players per team. Theres only Ruddington and Willowbrook Arms that have one table so I don't think its an issue doubling the point score at those two venues. A point for a winning frame plus an additional point for a match win. However I think 2points for a match win and an extra point each for a draw would be better.  ( just to add an extra complication lol)

All six players at Ruddington also would like to play two frames each on a monday night even though our home games would be one each.

Call me old school, but monday nights has always been 4 players 4 frames its worked for this long so why change
One simple, resounding reason.  The players want to play 2 frames.

Is there a better reason?

Especially among players who have tried the two frames format, the preference for 2 frames is practically universal.

I was keen to find out if this was the case so I did a quick text survey of all Monday night team captains tonight (17 of them) and this is the result:

Q. Would you rather play 2 frames each on a Monday night?

I have not had any response from Shaun, Kwok, Mick O'Neill or Jeff.  Mick Walker was not able to give me a vote as he was not with the rest of his team.

I think you will agree that the preference for 2 frames is not as universally popular as some people would have us believe.

That's fine Nick. You can run it then. It's complicated enough as it is.

Update - Kwok has just voted NO on behalf of BCI Elites:

We know you (Bob) and Steve do a GREAT job and there are other players out there who just try to put their views and suggestions to the Committee.

But, we always seem to get the same 'put down' - if you can do a better job come and do it !!

Can I return to a grade 2 please.

Consider it done Mike.  Don't forget to use your new grade with immediate effect.

With respect Steve, the Monday night captains are not all the players are they?  In fact they are less than a quarter obviously.

Anyway, it's good the vote favours the change.  8)

The particular point I was trying to make earlier is that most players, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE PLAYED 2 FRAMES (clearly more of them play Tuesday currently) prefer the 2 frame format.  In other words, once a player has played 2 frames, they rarely look back.

Either what the players think matters to the committee or it doesn't.  Suggesting something is not an attack on how things are run.  Frankly, this is the only way players can influence decisions so getting shirty with anyone for having their say is hardly fair.

Hence why I did the survey on a Monday night whilst all the captains would be with their teams and thus able to discuss it with them, which they did.  This is why one captain felt he was unable to vote because he was not with his team-mates by the time he read my text.  Another captain who prefers to play one frame (and he does play on a Tuesday too) still voted 'yes' because his team-mates disagreed with him.

I can assure you that I do know what I am doing!  :)

Morning all,

I don't normally play Monday nights but have done on occasion covering for Toby in the BCI B team.

I personally would prefer 2 frames per player but keep the current Monday score system i.e. point for a frame, bonus point for win & aggregate frames scores so that Monday's can retain a close link to the original Nott's Institutes Leagues (I Think)

I've never understood this bonus point for winning the match lark you seem to use, why not just have four singles and a doubles at the end, this way at least two players get to play the desired by some two frames of snooker every other week???
