I was in Towers today, nice venue with plenty of snooker table along with  newly developed pool room. This could be a good day.

I'm hoping to attend and feel if some of the Notts lads show willing this could lead to increased NBSA entires form Towers players, above all meeting people who we'd normally not cross paths with.

There is plenty of parking and it's not far from the bus station or train station.

Paul-I have already had an enquiry from Towers to enter a team in the summer. If you can persuade them to enter 2 then that would be great. I have also had an enquiry from a club in Sutton in Ashfield. Also 2 from new teams at Spot On Sneinton.

That's great news Bob regarding the possibility of at least 4 new teams.

I did mention the league to one of the bar staff and he did mention they have enquierd about entering a team from Towers. Next time I'm up there I will see if there is any change of a second team to.

Which club in Sutton have you heard from?

Hi Paul. I think it's Kirby Cross, but I can't find the e-mail at the moment.

It is Kirkby Cross at Kirkby-in Ashfield, not Sutton-in Ashfield. I was getting mixed up with something else.

I know the one Bob, Kirkby also has another snooker club called Millers, last time I went they had 6 table and quite a few people in.

Would it be worth sending them some information about the joining the Summer Season?

Thanks for the info James,

I assume they will be using NBSA handicaps?

Hi Jon,

I've just spoken to Butch who works at Towers and they will using a grading system between 0-42. I personally don't think they'll use the NBSA grades as alot of their players do not play NBSA.

Ill have a further word and mention how our system works so that they could maybe apply the same logic when grading entrants for their comp.

Yes Paul. It would be worth it. I am hoping that with Towers moving to our leagues that some of the teams in the league that they now play in will join them in ours.

Hi guys, i've just had a quick read of this post and i think it might be a good idea if you can put this to a vote. I love the idea of new teams new blood, venues and fresh faces and all that BUT it is a local Nott's league at the end of the day and we should therefore do a poll for all the teams and players to see if they are "for or against". As there will be no benefit gaining 2 new teams if we end up losing a few of our very own as a result.

I think it is a superb idea new teams new challenges more the merrier. Maybe more like a super league including some more  locations like Newark, long Eaton, Derby teams, and then teams and players can opt if they want to enter local league or further a field league too.

You can never please everyone, this way you could almost have best of both worlds with choices for players and teams on different nights. Well that's my pennies worth, hope i haven't thrown a spanner into the works  :-\

It's called "Nottinghamshire Billiards & Snooker League". If teams are worried about the travelling we've already done the maths. It is nearer to Towers in Mansfield from BCI than it is to Cotgrave. What's the problem?

Teams only have to drive there once over the course of the season they have to come our way every other week.

Calm down dear, it's only a commercial haha!!! I was told that famous man in the advert passed away, so I wouldn't want any NBSA committee members going too as from a suggestion!

I'm cool with either way, BUT I think if you do things officially as the NBSA usually operate. I can't see no harm in putting a poll to the players in the league asking for their opinion. After all they are the ones that will play and do the traveling. If they all say no problem, then it will save all moaning and headache to you Bob later and during the league. I'm only looking ahead at the practical solution :)  I'll put some rubber ends on my spanner haha!!!
