Open Singles Snooker Championship

Gavin Shirley won a terrific match 4-3 against Martin Conway. Martin took the opener but Gavin levelled at 1-1 with the help of a 49 break. After going 2-1 down, Martin looked on course to level the match again but he wobbled the brown and Gavin capitalised to take a 3-1 lead. Martin won a scrappy fifth frame and then won the next convincingly to set up a decider. Gavin took a 20+ point lead before making a nice 39 break to secure the victory.

Keith Holgate (a three time winner of this tournament 1989,2012,2013) joins Gavin in the next round thanks to a 3-1 win against Wayne Martin. Keith had "fluke of the century" in the last frame before twitching on match ball. Wayne looked on course to force a decider but he missed the black, handing victory to Keith.
