Callum Hodgman takes Sunday League title

Callum Hodgman (£60 + Trophy), the constantly improving 16 year old from Hucknall, won the first ever Sunday League at Phoenix Cue Sports, Eastwood. He was pushed all the way by Jon Sully (East Leake) who went into Round 3 as the favourite, albeit he only had a one point lead.
Steve Burrows (Kegworth) played very well as usual and he thoroughly deserved 3rd place.
Things were a lot closer in the bottom half of the table, but it was Tony Morgan (Kirkby-in-Ashfield) who snatched 4th place with Steve Butler’s (Gotham) victory over Vinnie Dennis (Sutton-in-Ashfield) proving pivotal in deciding who finished bottom.
The final round of matches had been delayed for 6 months due to the Coronavirus pandemic breaking out in late March. The requirement to wear face coverings when not playing a match was only a minor inconvenience. It was just a relief to finally get the league finished and crown the worthy champion.

(Callum Hodgman’s handicap was reduced from 77 to 56 between rounds 2 and 3. Jon Sully also had his handicap reduced from 49 to 42)
