A really good match, both players showing their solid all round games. Andy was the deserved winner in the end with some tremendous pressure shots and excellent safety. The match could have gone either way and was a great final to determine this years Champion of Champions.

Andrew gets his name engraved on the Alan Cunningham Trophy and also receives £70 cash. Wayne receives £30.

Match Report

Frame 1
Wayne starting quickly, a 32 break followed by a run of 21 putting the first frame to bed.
Wayne going 1 nil up.

Frame 2
Similar to the first frame, Wayne cueing well and making another 30 break before finishing the frame off with solid match play snooker.
Wayne 2 nil up

Frame 3
Andy springs into life with some fantastic long balls. He then makes a solid 44 break that could have been more.
Andy takes the frame in convincing style and pulls one back. Wayne 2-1 Andy

Frame 4
Similar to the previous frame, Andy cueing very well now. A solid 39 break taking this frame to even the match up.

Frame 5
This frame was a match play dogfight. Both players showing some excellent safety and escapologist skills. Wayne got Andy needing two snookers. Andy produced two excellent snookers so he could win the frame. He duly clears to a very difficult pink, sadly missing with the rest and leaving Wayne to take the frame. Wayne 3-2 Andy

Frame 6
Andy was too classy in this frame, putting Wayne in lots of trouble and taking what was needed to win the frame. Another 30+ break doing the damage and levelling the match.

Frame 7 Decider
Another dogfight of a frame that went down to the last few balls. The reds went everywhere early on and both players laid some amazing traps for each other. Andy took the advantage and got ahead by 20 plus with one red left. A mistake gave Wayne a golden opportunity but a sloppy positional shot left a difficult brushing shot over the brown. Wayne missed and never really got another chance. Andy duly winning frame and match with some terrific pressure pots.
