Nav Hussain makes it back-to-back tournament victories as he takes The Open title

The Final

Played on Saturday 4 April 2026 at Spot On Hucknall

Congratulations to Nav Hussain who defeated Chris Winter 3-2 in the final of The Open, to secure back-to-back tournament victories, following his Clarry Cup success last weekend. It was also a successful defence of The Open title, having won it the last time it was played in 2022.

Runner-up Chris Winter will be disappointed, having looked odds on to take the victory until Nav came back to pinch it with the final black of the deciding frame. Here is the match report:

Frame 1
The opening frame was nip and tuck with some good tactical play from both players. Chris was only 9 points in front going into the colours. Nav went on to pot yellow, green, brown, blue and pink, but he went in-off, meaning he was now 13 points behind with 13 on the table. He proceeded to pot pink and black to force a re-spot, winning the toss to put Chris in first. A few good safety shots followed before Nav potted the black to take a 1-0 lead.
Nav 100-93 Chris

Frame 2
The frame started scrappy with all the colours off their spots. Chris went on to score slightly heavier and Nav was leaving him some easy chances. Nav eventually conceded with the pink and black remaining. The match now level at 1-1.
Chris 58-34 Nav

Frame 3
Nav scored heavier in this frame and was always in front. He made a 32 clearance to take the frame convincingly and lead the match 2-1.
Nav 90-28 Chris

Frame 4
A good start from Chris, making a nice 36 break to lead by 44 points. Chris led by 31 points with just the colours left on the table. A couple of fouls by Nav resulted in the concession and we were now going to a decider.
Chris 71-32 Nav

Frame 5
Chris was off the mark first, with a run of 23. A loose shot from Nav then put him straight back in and he made a further break of 9, missing a blue off the spot. Nav made a 22 break to trail by only 8 points with two reds left, but he left Chris in again. However Chris could only make 13 points from this good chance, missing the yellow. With just the colours remaining, Chris now led by 21 points. Nav conceded 4 points from a foul and then Chris potted the yellow to leave Nav needing a snooker. Nav potted the green and laid a good snooker. Chris failed to hit the brown and left Nav a free ball, but he elected to make Chris play again. Chris played a terrific swerve shot to hit the brown, but unfortunately he left it over the corner pocket. Nav potted the easy brown but failed to get good position on the blue. He attempted a difficult clip on the blue but it missed. Chris now led by 16 points with 18 on the table. Chris then left Nav with a chance at a long blue which he potted, followed by an outrageous double on the pink and then the black to pinch the frame and win the match 3-2.
Nav 63-61 Chris
