Season Review: 2025-26

The 2025-26 season ends today so here is a brief recap covering the season’s highlights.

The accounts for the 2025-26 season are presented at the bottom of this article.

Notts Amateur Snooker Championship

Andrew Diacopoulos won the Notts Amateur Snooker Championship for the fourth time, having previously won it in 2014, 2023 and 2024. He defeated Richard Wheelhouse 4-1 in the final.

The Gibson Trophy

The new Gibson Trophy was kindly donated by the Gibson family and they also provided £100 of sponsorship for the tournament. Wayne Martin won the tournament, defeating Andrew Diacopoulos 4-3 in a high quality final.

Seniors Snooker Championship

The final of the Seniors Championship was a best of nine frame encounter, played over two sessions. It was Keith Holgate who triumphed, beating Wayne Martin 5-4.

Holgates Masters

Holgates of Nottingham once again sponsored the Masters, providing an extra £100 for the prize fund. The tournament was won by Nav Hussain, who beat Wayne Martin 4-1 in the final.

Phyllis Bell Trophy

The Phyllis Bell Trophy was won by Matt Taylor, who beat Jim Harrison 3-0 way back in January.

Spider Trophy

Jim Harrison emerged victorious against Chris Winter, in the final of the Spider Trophy back in February. It was a hard fought 3-2 win, Chris coming so close to winning it but he just couldn’t get over the line.

Clarry Cup

Once again, it was Nav Hussain and Wayne Martin in a final, and once again it was Nav who won the match 4-1.

The Open

The Open was resurrected, having not been held for a few years. Nav Hussain won his third title of a magnificent season, beating Chris Winter 3-2.

Alan Cunningham Trophy

Jim Harrison capped off a terrific season by lifting the prestigious Alan Cunningham Trophy. He beat Patrick Ashurst 3-2 in a fantastic final.

Home League

Keith Holgate won the Home League for the first time. He also took home £200 in prize money.

Runner-up was Steve Whitt, with Ben Cooper making the highest break, a fantastic 100!

Singles League

The Singles League goes from strength to strengh. The 2025-26 season consisted of five divisions and next season it will be expanded to six divisions.

The five champions are:

  • Division 1: Andrew Diacopoulos
  • Division 2: Keith Holgate
  • Division 3: Kevin Barlow
  • Division 4: Steve Bestwick
  • Division 5: Scott McIntyre

There are no trophies for the Singles League, however next year, Tony Hatton will be sponsoring High Break Trophies, with a trophy being awarded for the highest break in each division.

Gold Handicap

Wayne Martin defeated Nick Sharp 3-1 in a hard fought final.

Silver Handicap

Jacob Reynolds beat Danial Kamran 3-0. It was an excellent performance by the young BCI potting machine.
