Andrew Diacopoulos wins the Notts Amateur Snooker Championship for the third time in four years

Congratulations to Andrew Diacopulos who defeated Richard Wheelhouse 4-1 in the final of the Notts Amateur Snooker Championship to secure the title for a fourth time and the third time in the last four seasons.
Frame 1
Andrew was in first with a classy 40 break. After a safety exchange, Richard knocked in a long red but he missed the black off the spot allowing Andrew to add to his lead with another 40 break. Richard made a 12 break and Andrew was straight in again, potting a red forcing the concession from Richard.

Frame 2
The second frame was nip and tuck and Andrew led by just 7 points going into the colours. Richard failed to escape from a snooker on the yellow but he hit it next time, after the balls had been replaced by the referee. Andrew then potted the yellow, but missed the green. He now led by 13 points, with 25 remaining. He was back in a few shots later to pot the green, but an attempt at a double on the brown missed by an inch. Not to worry though, a couple of shots later he fluked the brown and potted the blue to win the frame! Andrew now leads 2-0.

Frame 3
Richard got in first with a run of 8 but Andrew then made a beautiful 80 break to take the frame and a 3-0 lead.

Frame 4
A run of 24 from Richard put him 15 points up with 7 reds on the table. Andrew replied with red and pink but an uncharacteristic miss on the next red left Richard in the balls again. Richard produced a nice 40 break to take the frame. Andrew leads 3-1.

Frame 5
Andrew was in first with a delightful little break of 24. A tactical battle then followed from which Andrew emerged in front by 17 points going into the colours. Richard potted the yellow to reduce his deficit to 15 points. Andrew then potted green and brown to leave Richard needing a snooker. Andrew then potted the blue to take frame and match. Andrew wins 4-1.

Andrew gets his name engraved for the fourth time on the historic Nottingham & Notts Amateur Snooker Championship Cup, which was donated to the Association by Mr Tom Wright in 1928 and presented to the first champion (F Martin) in 1929. He also receives free entry into the end of season Alan Cunningham Trophy.
