Hussain is Classic Champion for 2019

Masters runner-up Nav Hussain defeated 15-year-old Callum Hodgman on Wednesday evening to lift the Nottingham Snooker Classic trophy, but he was made to work hard for it by the impressive newcomer.

Hodgman was receiving 70 points start in each frame and this ensured that Hussain had to score heavily if he was going to emerge victorious. Sure enough, a 46 break at the start of frame one was followed by runs of 12, 15 and 15 to win by just 12 points. In frame two, a run of 48 from Hussain did the damage as he went 2-0 up. A failure by Hussain to score any break in double figures in frame three allowed Hodgman to take the frame 90-55. Hussain’s steady scoring in frame four saw him ease over the winning line and secure a 3-1 victory.

Hussain took home £150 and the Classic trophy. He also won £10 for making the highest break of the competition, a lovely 83 at the Hucknall venue.

Hodgman took home the £75 runner-up prize.
