Carlton shock The Towers to make Knockout Cup final

Carlton 3 v 2 The Towers

Carlton Liberal again shuffled the team and came up with a superb win to progress into the Knockout Cup Final.

This time they defeated in-form team The Towers and will face Triple S in the final on the 23^rd March (venue to be arranged).

Richard Sutton got Carlton off to a great start in a very high scoring game against Andy Diacopoulos, winning 97 v 87.

Andy Taylor levelled things up for Towers by defeating Simon Bundred 81 v 52.

Kev Barlow and Rob Walker got Carlton a step closer by winning the pairs against Andy Taylor and Lea Bradshaw. This included a 32 break from the Carlton duo.

James Baillie couldn’t quite get Carlton over the line losing 97 v 57 to Andy Diacopoulos.

It was left to Captain Kev Barlow, and he didn’t disappoint, taking out Lea Bradshaw 69 v 41 and sending Carlton into the final.

Congratulations Carlton and commiserations to Towers, who now focus their attentions on the league title.

Several outstanding league fixtures were played tonight.

Lenton Liberal 3 v 2 BCI AJ

Lenton are gaining momentum in recent weeks, and this was another solid win that puts Lenton into fourth place.

Spot on Sneinton 3 v 2 BCI Hotshots

The Hot Shots were bought back down to earth after last weeks heavy win, this time at the hands of Spot-on Sneinton.

Terry Thompson and Nick Sharp combining nicely to get the winning points against the Bulwell side.

BCI Captain Josh Morley winning Bulwell’s only frames of the night.

Triple S 1 v 4 Spot on Hucknall

The final rearranged league game of the week always promised to be a battle with both times highly positioned in the league.

Ben Cooper gave Hucknall the ideal start with a tense black ball win over Rob Mullis.

County A players Adam Clift and Wayne Martin were up next with Martin making a 40 break that decided this frame and put Hucknall 2-0 up.

Hucknall’s Ben Cooper and Daz Clarke combined next for the pairs and just inched a win against the duo of Rob Mullis and Terry Dowson.

Back came Triple S though with Adam Clift taking the next frame against Patrick Ashurst. Making it 3-1 to Hucknall.

It was Terry Dowson against Wayne Martin in the final frame and Martin in good form, making a solid 45 break to again take the frame and now the match for Hucknall.

Its back to the league again next week and what proves to be a tight run-in for the league title.

The Towers have three games in hand now, can they take advantage?
