Tuesday Team League

The Towers continue their press towards the league title with a great 5-3 win against Arnold Civil Defence. Newly crowned Notts Amateur Champion Andy Diacopoulos getting them off to an ideal start by defeating fellow County A player John Fountain 2-0. Arnold went down fighting though, Pete Ogburn producing some inspiring snooker with a good 2-0 win against county player Dan Moll.

Some great scoring on show at Sneinton as Spot On Reds defeated BCI Masters 6-2. Moe Anyanwu making a 58 break in his win over Ash Field. Cary Davies also had his scoring boots on with a 52 against James Robinson. Break of the night though goes to James Robinson with a superb 35 break in taking one of the frames in his match with Cary Davies. Well done James, keep it up!!!!

Spot On Hucknall lost ground again in the title race, this time it was an inspired performance by Welcome Institute, holding the league leaders to a draw. Tony Morgan got Welcome off to a solid start by defeating Joe Reynolds 2-0. Patrick Ashurst and Martin Conway played out a 1-1 draw. Wayne Martin was very, very fortunate against his opponents James Rice and Peter White but managed to just win both frames to leave this match with a tantalising finish. Daz Clarke and Vinnie Dennis enjoyed a great final match. Clarke winning the first frame before Dennis played some inspired snooker to take the second frame and level things off on the night.

Special mention to Welcome Institute’s “Captain Fantastic” Rick Else –  making a great frame winning clearance last week that I missed from the report. ☹

Well done Rick and congratulations on hosting a fantastic Notts Amateur final last week – superb venue and tables at the club!!!!

Final match of the week also finished in a draw but a spectacular one. Phoenix Cue Sports and an inspired BCI B finished 4-4. Shaun Kilkie winning 2-0 against county captain Ben Monk. Steve Purser again winning 2-0, this time against Steff Swann. Some great results this season for Steve. Sam Burton winning 2-0 for Phoenix against Paul Wainwright. Man of the match has to go to Steve Capewell, who was again on-fire with breaks of 48, 51 and 85 in his wins against Paul Wainwright Snr and Jason Wainwright respectively. Tremendous consistent scoring from Steve this season and great to have such a talent playing in the league again.

I feel a county call-up coming your way from Mr Monk.
