Bulwell ‘B’ Bestow Battering. Again
Monday Team League (Summer 2023)
Bulwell Church Institute ‘B’ dished out their second whitewash in as many matches, as they soared eleven points clear at the top of the nottinghamsnooker.com team league table.
Mark Morrisey maintained his 100% start to the season, banking a win each on singles and pairs duty, as Carlton & District Liberal Club were the unfortunates on the receiving end. Spot On Hucknall and Bulwell Church Institute’s “AJ” side both won see-saw away matches by the odd frame in five to head the chasing pack with identical records, good for 27 points apiece.
Two out of two on singles including a 40 break for Manfred Corbin proved not enough for Academy Reds. BCI AJ’s Josh Morley followed up earlier pairs success by securing a singles on the blue to get the visitors from Vere Street over the victory line.
Andy Wain hit the fourth-highest break of the season, a 48, en route to taking both of his singles frames at home for The Venue (Rainworth). This was Wain’s second entry onto the high-break board, pushing his previous effort of 42 down to sixth place. Darryl Clarke starred for Spot On Hucknall, however, triumphant on pairs before knocking in breaks of 34 and 32 (good for eighth and ninth place on the high-break board) in the deciding singles frame. The Venue remain sixth in the league table, but close the gap on those immediately above them.
Towers remain fourth, a further six points behind BCI AJ and Spot On Hucknall, and above Lenton Liberal Club by virtue of their head-to-head result two weeks ago. The Mansfield side were on the bye this week, while the Lenton versus Academy ‘A’ match was postponed with the visitors unable to raise a team.
