Triple S win the 2024-25 Knockout Cup

Triple S win the 2024-25 Knockout Cup

Monday Team League

Triple S took home this season’s Knockout Cup with a 3-0 win against Carlton Liberal.

The match was much tighter than the scoreline suggests but some great match play and crucial pots got Triple S over the line.

Frame 1

Rob Walker 50 v 83 Adam Clift

Rob Walker got Carlton off to a great start, quickly moving 42 ahead with the +28 start he received.

It looked like being Carlton who would take the first point of the match but a lose safety let Nottinghamshire A player Adam Clift at the table.

Adam made a stylish 31 break to get Triple S back in the frame. Another mistake from Walker let Clift in again and he didn’t need a second invitation.

Clift cleared the table with a well-constructed break of 38 to put Triple S 1 up.

Frame 2

Richard Sutton 56 v 88 Terry Dowson

This frame was very much a master class in match play, both players making some tremendous single ball pots and putting their opponent in trouble.

Terry was giving away a 28-point head start and couldn’t afford to allow Richard a chance in the balls.

Despite his best-efforts Richard could not keep Terry at bay and eventually the Skegby player got his chance and took a very tight second frame to put his side one away from victory.

Frame 3

Kev Barlow/Rob Walker 37 v 51 Terry Dowson/Rob Mullis

The third frame was again very tightly contested with the Triple S pairing giving away a 13-point head start to their opponents.

The Triple S pairing didn’t give anything away in this frame either and it went down to the last three colours.

Kev Barlow electing to play a very tricky snooker on the blue on a rapid table. He left it just short but most importantly, he left the blue over the pocket and Triple S pounced.

Rob Mullis dispatched the blue and left his partner in prime position on the pink.

Dowson didn’t need a second invitation and duly potted frame and match ball for Triple S.

Many thanks to the players, this game was played in a great sporting manner.

Congratulations to both teams, its not easy playing on a very fast, professional Star table and they all adapted very well.

Finally, many thanks to Spot on Hucknall for the loan of their superb facilities and to Anthony Hamilton for the use of his superb Star table.
