Spot on Hucknall are the 2024-25 Nottingham Snooker League Champions

Monday Team League

Spot on Hucknall (£150) have won the league following a titanic, battling 3-2 win against fellow title contenders The Towers (£60).

This marks a great upturn in results for captain Daz Clarke and his team as they have finished 2^nd for the past four years.

Well done to Spot on Hucknall and commiserations to The Towers who finished a very close second after a stop/start to the season.

The Towers 2 – 3 Spot on Hucknall

This promised to be a close one and it lived up to expectations.

Andy Diacopoulos got The Towers off to a fine start, dispatching Wayne Martin in the opening frame.

Lea Bradshaw looked to have defeated Hucknall’s Patrick Ashurst only for it to go to a respotted black with Ashurst potting the deciding ball to level the tie.

Hucknall’s Ellis Abbot just got over the line against Andy Taylor, potting a brilliant pink and black to put Hucknall on the brink.

Then came the pairs and it was a long one!!!! Eventually Daz Clarke & Ben Cooper got the better of Lea Bradshaw & Bob Gould to take the 3 frames and the title.

Andy Diacopoulos then won the final dead rubber frame.

A great final match, played in a highly sporting manner, credit to both teams for competing and having a laugh.

Lenton Liberal 1 – 4 Triple S

Triple S (£25) finished their season off in fine style, defeating Lenton Liberal (£15) to cement third place with Lenton finishing the season fourth.

Dan Kamran got Lenton off to a flying start by defeating Rob Mullis. This turned out to be Lenton’s only frame of the evening as Triple S took over.

Great wins for Adam Clift, Terry Dowson and Rob Mullis in the pairs frame doing the overall damage.

Clift making an excellent 50 break in his win over Lenton captain Jon Shapland.

Carlton Liberal 3 – 2 BCI AJ

Carlton won the battle for fifth place with a hard earnt victory over BCI AJ. AJ finishing just below Carlton in sixth.

AJ got off to an ideal start going two nil up, wins for Ash Field and Shaun Kilkie.

Not to be denied, back came Carlton with 3 frames on the bounce to take the match.

Great wins for Kev Barlow, Rob Walker and Richard Sutton sealing the deal in the end.

BCI Hotshots 2 – 3 Spot on Sneinton

The final match this week saw Spot on Sneinton inflict a win over the Hotshots.

The Hotshots were 2 nil up in not time at all with wins for Captain Josh Morley and James Robinson (special mention for James as he made a fabulous 32 break)

Well done James – great to see mate.

Sneinton rallied during the last three frames with brilliant wins for Nick Sharp & Terry Thompson across the pairs and singles frames to take the win.

The final league positions look like this:

Terry Dowson (£10) took the highest break of the season with a tremendous 109!!!! (Brilliant)

We had over 55 breaks of 30+ during the season, here is a selection of the breaks from 40 upwards.

Overall, a brilliant, highly competitive season. Many thanks to all the captains and players for making it enjoyable.

Next up is the Knockout Cup Final that is being played on Sunday 23^rd March at 7PM at Spot on Hucknall.

Jon Shapland will be running a summer league for those that are interested.
