Welcome Institute in fine form as they whitewash BCI B
Tuesday Team League
The Towers and Phoenix Cue Sports fought out a terrific draw this week. Notts Amateur champion Andy Diacopoulos making a 42 break in a draw with Ben Monk. It was honours even going into the final match of the night between Bob Gould and Sam Burton. It was Burton who came out on top though in two tight frames to rescue a 4-4 stalemate for Phoenix. This means that Towers are now two points off the top of the league with a few weeks to go.
Elsewhere, Welcome Institute were in fine form with a terrific 8-0 win against BCI B. Tony Morgan (pictured) again showing some form with a 51 break in his 2 nil win against Steve Purser. Welcome players Martin Caunt, Captain Rick Else and Martin Conway piling on the frames in a convincing win. This victory lifts them into 3rd place in the league, hopping above Phoenix for the time being.
League leaders Spot On Hucknall were back to form this week with a solid 8-0 win against BCI Masters. Ben Cooper recovering well against Chris Rigby to win the first frame before taking control in the second to win 2 nil. Wins also for Patrick Ashurst, Joe Reynolds (42 break) and Wayne Martin in extending the gap to 2 points at the top of the league.
Finally, no game between Spot on Reds and Arnold Civil Defence. This will be rescheduled later in the season.
Only three weeks to go in this league and its very tight between all the teams.
Who’s name will be on that trophy come March?
